11.10.2011 – HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MARINE CORP!
I feel like today is test day. The past two weeks have been a study in balancing a professional and a CrossFit life. I’ve been adjusting alright (commuting still kills). But just like back in school – oh you’ve got a handle on subject matter jurisdiction? That’s great! How about some Erie doctrine? Bam! Followed by evil laugh.
I had planned to compete at X’s & Y’s this weekend with my buddy, Chris Grothe. Well, Chris decided he has to actually study for school (Boo!). Change plans – hang out in ATL w/bff Keith and go watch X’s & Y’s. Well, Keith remembered he needed to get laid this weekend (Boo!). Change plans – relax at home. We all know I wasn’t going to cope well with this plan so. Change plans – get invited by my friend Tommy to run the Huntsville Half-Marathon. Hmmmm…interesting. If I go to Huntsville after work on Friday, I could run it Saturday morning, then head up to Nashville to look for a house and come back on Sunday. Sweet! Plan in place.
This plan hatched at around 10 last night. Went to bed feeling brilliant. Until …..
This morning I woke up at 5, wanting to take rest day #2. At 5:20 when I had thrown my phone across the room, I realized – Oh Crap! If I take a rest day again, it’ll throw off my clean & jerk program since the half-marathon will screw with my weekend training! So that threw me out of bed, and got me running with Rhett Butler quickly. Today will have to run like clock work and the to do list outside of work stressed me out – after work: commute, training, laundry, RB to the sitter (which is 45 min away), pack, get to bed so I can get up and train tomorrow (maybe food in there somewhere! Thinking about it feels like a WOD.
I will pull this off! Just stick to the plan – go from what you’ve learned over the past 2 weeks, apply the knowledge, ace the test.
